THE TAILORED SUIT: A PURCHASE GUIDE

A question that inevitably comes to mind when buying a suit is, "how do you choose a men's suit?".

Quite often you come across various offers, sales and promotions of men's suits. There is no limit to what many stores and brands will do to convince consumers to buy their products. But often, behind it, there is the fraud or the simple disappointment that follows the purchase of a dress of dubious quality. To avoid a such bad experience, we invite you to pay close attention to these essential characteristics that distinguish a man's tailored suit.

  • The quality of manufacture. Nowadays, even men's suits have undergone the effects of large retailers. The manufacture of men's suits was transferred to the Far East for cost reduction and volume necessity reasons. Of these foreign productions of men's suits - even if there is no lack of machine equipment facilities - many lack the perfume of a special garment. Men's tailored suits and their manufacture requires a minimum of craftsmanship. Men's suits that are produced in Italy or at least in Europe are suits that are being noted immediately. In some ways, the aesthetic aspect and the feeling of dressing are different because the input of the workforce is still fundamental for this type of product. The way the pockets are sewn, the lapels' shape, the buttons, the cut of buttonholes and the lining. Each of these small details often has an impact on the image of a tailored jacket. Look for example at how the parts suit together because when they fit together perfectly, they give you that important visual effect and the feeling that you are wearing a tailored men's suit. The small details are generally those that in poor-quality men's suits lack. The impression is that no one will notice them, but rest assured that everyone notices them at first sight. A very important part of making a tailored man's suit is its internal elements. Tailor Italian Wear supports the tradition of Italian tailoring suits and above all the Neapolitan tailoring according to which the jacket must be light, excluding elements such as shoulder pads. Most of all, the jacket of the suit is light with its internal manufacturing requiring special technical knowledge and skilled labor.

  • The fabric. Regardless of how much you pay for a suit, the quality of the fabric is of great importance. Be careful, avoiding the purchase of suits whose composition labels refer to materials such as "polyester" or "viscose". These are poor synthetic materials, dangerous to health, odd in feeling, and poor in image. Instead, prefer men's suits that are made of wool or mixed wool with other natural fibers such as silk, cotton and linen that make light and fresh men's suits. It is not the purpose of this article to investigate the fabrics of men's suits (superfine wool of type S'120, S'130, etc.). Let's say though that a purchase of men's suits in wool should be the first choice. So when buying a men's suit, it is important to know the composition of the fabric and its origin. Woolen clothes that originate from Australia and New Zealand are all excellent choices. Better still, if it is woven by established Italian woolen mills such as Loro Piana, Vitale Barberis Canonico and Ermenegildo Zegna. They are the ones who usually buy and work those precious yarns to make fabrics from wool clothes. Instead, there are woolen clothes that come from wool factories in China, Turkey and India. Often these are blended wools with synthetics or described with fraudulent tags that hide the real composition fibers. We recommend avoiding this type of woolen clothes, as even if 100% wool, the imported wool mills treat wools that are not comparable to those of Italian and English woolen mills.
  • The fit. The fit of a man's suit is often the result of the aforementioned factors. Hence, we believe that the fit of a dress is consistent with the fabric used and the quality of manufacture. Then, often many refer to slim men's suits, but obviously, it is not enough that the fit of a suit is just tight. A man's suit must be wrapped around your body. Modeling a man's suit requires important know-how. In general, it is the shoulder of the jacket which is the most important trait of a men's suit jacket. The shoulder defines the rest of the jacket and reveals the quality of the suit and its general appearance. Then, the trousers must be in balance with the jacket in order to form a tailored suit with a concrete and defined image. We always recommend going in depth when you look at the fit of the suits. A man's suit must somehow shape you well, hiding the weak points of the body and optimizing the overall image. Then, whether they are slim suits, or double-breasted suits or whatever, it doesn't matter.

That's why it's so important to buy a high-quality dress from the top shelf. A tailored quality suit will last for many years and boost your confidence.
